Nine Months Old

Elodie turned nine months old back on January 25th, and we had her nine month pediatrician checkup the next day. She continues to grow right along her growth curve, with similar percentiles as all her previous visits:

- Weight 18lb 13oz (61%)

- Height 29 inches (93%)

Recap of Elodie's Ninth Month

We were in southern CA between Christmas and New Years, and spent time with both my family and Eric's family. Angie and her family were visiting San Diego, so Elodie got to spend some time with her cousins! It's fun to see her being able to interact a little more, especially with Simon who is less than a year older than her.

Eric has other relatives in SoCal, so we saw some of his aunts, uncles, and cousins as well. It was good we were able to spend this time together, because Eric's Uncle Herbert ended up becoming very ill and passing away a few weeks later in January. I know Eric appreciates that we were able to see him, even briefly, and Uncle Herbert saw Elodie one last time.

Later in January, we attended my good friend Mabel's wedding in San Francisco. It was definitely the coolest wedding venue we have ever been to (California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park). Mabel and Ryan were the first people to ever have their wedding ceremony inside the planetarium! I was a bridesmaid, and it was so nice to be able to celebrate two such awesome people. This was Elodie's second wedding, but the first time we were going to attempt keeping her with us for most of the reception too. We were really hoping that she would fall asleep in her stroller, and stay asleep in there with the help of her earphones. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, and she couldn't go to sleep, so Eric left with her as soon as the dinner and speeches were over. It was close to 10pm by then though, and Elodie was so exhausted that she fell asleep in her stroller on the way to the car, and didn't wake through all the car seat/ crib transfers.

Physical Developments

Elodie is crawling around everywhere, and she can get around very quickly! She is still army crawling with her belly on the ground (instead of on hands and knees). We have to be very careful now of any little piece of trash or debris on the ground. She'll find the tiniest pieces of paper / plastic / whatever on the ground and try to eat it. 

She can now stand while holding onto something for support. I haven't seen her try to cruise yet, though (taking steps while holding on). She's content holding onto / leaning on the coffee table and playing with toys on there. 

Still no teeth!

Still eating really well! She will eat everything we offer (has never refused anything), but she seems to especially love a chicken veggie rice porridge (jook) that I make for her. I make a big pot and freeze into ice cubes or muffin tins so we always have some. Here's Eric with his brilliant plan after I was getting frustrated spooning the sticky jook into the ice cube tray:

I'm also trying to get her better at self-feeding, and she loves to feed herself scrambled egg, string cheese, steamed veggies, etc. It's always a huge mess though. 

This is a relatively clean example of self-feeding!

Current Likes
- Turning on and off regular light switches (if I hold her up to it)
- Opening and closing doors
- Being tickled
- When Eric does squats while holding her
- Pooping while she is eating solids (well, I don't know if that's something she LIKES, but it is something she always does haha)

Current Dislikes
She hates staying still on her back for diaper changes or for clothing changes. She is soo squirmy and immediately flips over to her tummy so she can crawl on the changing pad. We usually have to distract her with a new toy to keep her still on her back. The nighttime routine after her bath of putting on aquaphor, a fresh diaper, and her PJs is the hardest time.
