12 Months Old

Wow, Elodie is officially one year old. Time flies. Eric and I were getting sentimental on her birthday, remembering the day that she was born a year ago. It's hard to believe how much she has changed in the past year!

We had her 12 month appointment a few weeks ago, and Elodie is growing well, right along her usual growth curve:
- Weight - 21 pounds (68 percentile)
- Height - 30.9 inches (95 percentile)
She's still a tall and lean baby!

A lot has happened between 11 and 12 months, with the main events being a big Hawaii vacation with my family (my parents, sisters and brother-in-laws, and cousin), and also of course Elodie's big first birthday party (dohl in Korean).

We went to Hawaii for a Kim family vacation, and stayed at a big house in Kailua (on the eastern coast of Oahu). Eric and I have stayed in Kailua before, and much prefer that area to the touristy and busy Waikiki area. Kailua is where President Obama stays, and has a small local town feel to it (there are no hotels and less tourists overall). It was so fun to stay in one big house all together. Our house was literally 2 houses down from the beach (~30 second walk from our backyard to the beach), so it was a GREAT location! Here are some photos:

When we came back home from Hawaii, we had to hurry into birthday party prep mode! Elodie's first birthday party was a few days after we got back, and Auntie Angie, cousin Simon, and Ama and Akong visited us for the party. So Elodie had big doses of family love and attention the last few weeks before turning one.

The party was a big success! Eric still needs to process a lot of the photos, but here's one:

Physical Stuff
- Second tooth
- Cruising a lot, but not walking on her own quite yet
- Getting pickier with food, but still eats pretty well. She will often throw food over the side of her high chair, sometimes without even trying the food. I have to force her to try the new food, and then she'll usually like it (at least for a little bit).

Likes
- Books. Obsessed with books. ("booo!")
- Pointing out birds and planes in the sky ("burr!")
- Climbing up and down stairs
- Playing throw and catch with her stuffed bunny after bathtime (from her crib)
- Playing her piano
- Taking off people's glasses/sunglasses from their faces

Dislikes
- Laying on her back for diaper changes
- Sitting down in the bath (likes to stand)
- Drinking liquids from any type of cup... she will dribble it all out of her mouth :(
