| Poor sick Elodie around Thanksgiving 2015 (19 mo) |
Thanksgiving – We went to Indy for a week to spend Thanksgiving, but it wasn’t a totally joyous occasion because Elodie was very sick with a high fever for about a week (a few days before Indy, and well into our Indy trip). Her fever even reached over 105 several times and at one point she had a rash all over her body (reaction to the fever). We went to a doctor a few times throughout that week, but there really wasn’t anything they/we could do, because it was a viral infection of some sort that just needed time to get worked out, but it was so sad to see her soo miserable.
Christmas & New Years – We spent Christmas at home in San Mateo, then went to Southern CA for five days, where we got to spend time with both my family and Eric’s family. Elodie loved all her presents, especially her new Elmo doll!

Pneumonia – In early February, Elodie got sick with pneumonia and we ended up having to stay in a hospital overnight to monitor her blood oxygen level. It is a very long story, but at the end of the day, her oxygen levels ended up being fine so we didn't NEED to be there, but it was a “better safe than sorry” type of situation.

Physical stuff recap
- Weighs around 25-26 pounds, not sure exactly how tall she is
- She has most of her teeth now! She didn't have many teeth for a very long time (she grew her teeth in late compared to most kids), but they seemed to all come at the same time, and now she has most of her teeth.
- Running around, can jump up and down
- Eating is up and down. Some days she eats a ton, then other days she eats just a little bit. She can be pretty picky about her food, and it’s frustrating when she wont even TRY a tiny bite of something I know she would love! I recently discovered that she randomly loves meatloaf.
- Thankfully still a great sleeper. Sleeps from about 8pm – 8am, and takes one 2-hour nap in the afternoon.
Other growth
- Talking a lot! I can understand MOST of what she says, but sometimes she learns things from daycare and neither Eric nor I have any idea what she is saying.
- She seems to understand the concept of herself now. If she sees herself in the mirror and I ask who that is, she says “Elodie." When she sees her baby pictures, she says that’s “baby Elodie," etc. It’s pretty interesting to think about that.
Her stuffed animal collection – She had historically not been very attached to any comfort objects (like a special blankie or anything), but now, she has FIVE stuffed animals and wants to bring them all to join her. She has Elmo, bunny, sheep, doggy, and Paddington (bear). I think sheep is her favorite. She sleeps with all of them, and we try to just keep them in her crib, but often she wants to bring them to join us in the bathroom when she takes a bath or shower, or join us at the kitchen table when she eats, etc. And usually she won’t agree to taking just ONE of them – she needs ALL FIVE. Its pretty cute though.
Other random likes:
- Watching videos on the iPad/iPhone (especially Elmo videos)
- Her yellow rain boots -- she loves wearing these everywhere
- Taking walks after daycare
- Wanting to see what's going on in the kitchen (standing on a stool)
- Wanting to do everything by herself (“Elodie do it!”)
- Bubbles
- Eating at her big girl table or in my lap (instead of in her high chair)
- Drawing Elmo, or wanting other people to draw Elmo for her
- Legos
- Watching airplanes in the sky or watching trains go by
Dislikes
- Diaper changes
- She throws random fits/tantrums, but then switches again to a happy mood pretty quickly
- She gets frustrated if she can't get something done quickly (like a buckle)
